Aggrey Memorial A.M.E. Zion Senior High School has secured qualification to the 2026 National Science and Maths Quiz (NSMQ) Championship after emerging victorious in a tightly contested battle on Day Two of the Central Regional Qualifiers.

The Cape Coast-based school held its nerve against a spirited challenge from Gomoa SDA SHS in Contest Three, recording 51 points to book its place at the national stage.

The contest began on a competitive note, with both schools demonstrating their readiness by answering all questions correctly in the opening round.

Aggrey Memorial, however, managed to gain the advantage after a fierce exchange with Gomoa SDA, which matched the intensity throughout the contest.

The Speed Race round further strengthened Aggrey Memorial’s position as the school consistently responded quickly and accurately, while Gomoa SDA continued to mount pressure.

In the True or False round, all participating schools battled for crucial points, but Aggrey Memorial maintained its lead heading into the final stages.

Gomoa SDA produced a strong comeback in the Riddles round, dominating the final segment and reducing the deficit. However, the late surge was not enough to overturn Aggrey Memorial’s advantage.

At the end of the contest, the scores stood as follows:

• Aggrey Memorial A.M.E. Zion SHS — 51 points
• Gomoa SDA SHS — 42 points
• Komenda SHTS — 23 points
• Jukwa Dunkwa SHTS — 16 points

The victory sends Aggrey Memorial to the 2026 NSMQ Championship, where the school will now prepare to compete against the country’s top-performing schools, including defending champions Keta Senior High School.

The Central Regional Qualifiers continue as more schools battle for the remaining slots to represent the region at Ghana’s premier science and mathematics competition.
