Traders at Kantamanto, whose stalls were burnt down on Sunday, are struggling to find places to ply their trade at the Odawna market, despite assurances by Accra Metropolitan Assembly (AMA) that they can relocate there.
The traders who until a week ago were briskly doing business at their various stalls at the Kantamanto market, are struggling to find places to ply their trade.
AMA Boss, Alfred Okoe Vandapuje told the traders to temporarily relocate to the Odawna market to make way for the rebuilding of Kantamanto market in July this year.
But the traders say the AMA’s directive to move them to the Odawna market has not favoured them and has created confusion at the market.
Joy News’ Abena Oppong, who visited the Odawna market, reported that the traders are getting frustrated as every shed they try to take had inscriptions of names and contact numbers of owners.
Even on sheds without inscriptions, the Kantamanto traders are driven out by people who claim to the owners, after they had settled in them.
