Leonard Adzola, a cameraman died instantly on Tuesday in a freak accident involving a Mercedes Benz car he was driving from Aflao towards Dzodze at Penyi in the Ketu-North District.
A local source told the GNA that the deceased had arrived from Accra for a funeral in Dzodze, where his mother lives.
The source said the deceased on Tuesday visited Aflao where he bought a parking light for repair works on his vehicle ahead of his return to Accra.
He said the deceased was chased by a Police Patrol team as he refused a signal to stop and was pursued.
The source said Adzola not wearing a seat belt and whiles speeding lost control of the vehicle in a curve near Penyi, resulting in the vehicle swinging 360 degrees to face the other way before grounding to a halt.
He said Adzola broke his neck as a result of the impact of the violent swing and died instantly.
The source alleged that the police team which arrived at the scene just when the accident happened made a u-turn and left.
Mr Atsu Zigah, Dzodze Police Commander, confirmed the incident saying investigations were under way but added that his outfit could not confirm the claim that the deceased was being pursued.
The body is at the Dzodze Saint Anthony’s Hospital morgue pending autopsy
