Nana Oye Lithur, Minister of Gender, Children and Social Protection, shall on June 18, launch the National Pensioners Association of SSNIT Pensioners Medical Fund.
The launch would be under the patronage of Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, Asantehene and would be chaired by Mr John Saka Addo, former Governor of the Bank of Ghana and Chairman of the Prudential Bank.
A statement signed by Mr Edward Ameyibor, General Secretary of SSNIT National Pensioners Association and copied to the Ghana News Agency, said the fund was set up as a result of difficulties most pensioners encounter in accessing health care.
It said the fund was created to help meet some of the emergency health needs of members and also to supplement what is being offered under the National Health Insurance Scheme (NHIS).
The statement said a media launch is slated for May 16.
