Asantehene Otumfuo Osei Tutu II has once again urged the 2012 presidential candidate of the NPP, Nana Akufo-Addo to accept whatever the outcome of the election petition before the Supreme Court would be. Otumfuo also asked him to prevail on his supporters and followers to accept the result – whether in his favour or not – in the interest of the nation, Joy News Jefferson Sackey reports. The Asantehene was speaking in a meeting with the NPP flag-bearer in Accra on Friday afternoon at Nana Addo’s residence. The meeting was dominated by the ongoing election petition being heard by the Supreme Court. Otumfuo Osei Tutu also applauded Nana Akufo-Addo for not resorting to violence to contest the election results but sought redress using the law courts. On his part, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo maintained the track record of the NPP is there to show that they are a peace-loving party, and has always accepted the outcome of elections organized by the Electoral Commission. However, he pointed out that the party decided to go to court this time round because of the widespread irregularities that characterized the 2012 December general elections. Otumfuo is in the capital with a delegation of chiefs for a democracy lecture organized by the National Commission on Civic Education.
