It is not everyday people spend their birthdays and share their cakes with the homeless.

However, the General Overseer of the Prayer Palace International Church at Spintex embarked on a Feed 3000 initiative on March 2 as part of his birthday celebration.

Speaking in an interview, Prophet Emmanuel Adjei said the initiative to feed homeless people stems from his core mandate as a Christian to show love and help others.

“It is very important because the Bible teaches to love and help the needy, so we at Prayer Palace decided to extend the love God has shown us to others,” he noted.

According to him, the woes of society is on the rise and many people have criticised the church for not doing much. Being able to do help people on his birthday is a way for people to know the church still cares.

“I do this every year. Last year we went to prisons and the year before that we went to an orphanage. This year I got it in me to feed 3000 people on the streets, specifically at the Nkrumah Circle, the heart of Accra where we can touch many lives,” he revealed.

The Feed 3000 initiative saw homeless people – who either have to beg or struggle to find work – fill the Kwame Nkrumah circle to eat food and drink water.

Some of these homeless people had the chance to also choose new clothes provided by the Prayer Palace International Church.

Dressed in their Feed 3000 shirts, members of the Prayer Palace International took time to attend to every single person that found their way to the venue.

The church, meanwhile, has more in store for the homeless people. “Today focuses on feeding these people but we have some plans in the pipeline for them,” Prophet Adjei stated.

He noted through his foundation, the Prophet Emmanuel Adjei Foundation, a non-governmental organization in the church that seeks to help people, he has been able to assist people with almost anything they need on a regular basis.

According to prophet Emmanuel Adjei, the foundation has been embarking on different charity tasks for people when they can.

He added that “it is about 12 years now and we have visited 26 countries. Each country we go to, there is a charity program we do.”

The foundation helps people with their hospital bills, rent, school fees and other charitable deeds.

“This year alone, about GH¢50,000 has been used to pay the rent of some people. We are helping some students pay their fees as well. We’ve also helped some people cover their hospital bills,” Prophet Adjei said.

He appealed to people to help them fund the some of their projects when they can. “The Feed 3000 was co-funded by some members of the church, CEO of Happy FM and Nsem Pii and I am grateful to them for their help.”

The Pastor also urged the public to make it a mandate to help the needy in society.
