Police in Akatsi have begun investigations into how a 10-month old baby girl was dumped at a public toilet in the town. The baby was discovered on Sunday dead in the toilet.
Volta Regional correspondent Ivy Setordji said the mother of the baby, 17-year-old Ayisha Mohammed, told Police her baby fell sick sometime ago and died on Friday.
According the mother of the baby, he called the father of the baby and told him she was bringing the dead baby to her mother at Zongo, but upon reaching there, the father of the baby and his brother took the dead baby away and dumped her in the toilet.
Akatsi Police Command, Chief Superintendent, Denis Fiakpi, told Joy News' Ivy Setordji the teenage mother of the baby is in Police custody assisting with investigations. The father of the baby is on the run.
