President John Mahama has directed an immediate investigation into all the fire outbreaks in the country.
He has warned that those behind the fires will not go free.
The president described as abnormal the frequency of the fire outbreaks in parts of the country, adding there is the need to investigate the outbreaks to ascertain the cause and a permanent solution found to them.
Scores of markets in Accra and parts of Kumasi have been razed down through fires costing traders to lose their capital.
President Mahama gave the directive at the inauguration of the New System Control Center in Tema.
The system gives total remote coverage and control of the entire National Interconnected Transmission System comprising 66 sub-stations and switch yards.
President Mahama is also demanding answers from engineers in charge of the Achimota sub-station that caught fire yesterday in order to find out the circumstances under which the outbreak occurred.
President Mahama said the commissioning of the 18 million dollar New System Control Center is an indicative of his determination to finding a lasting solution to the country’s energy challenges.
