Residents of Amedzikope and its surrounding towns can now boast a well-established and equipped police station after many years of operating from rented and unconducive premises.
According to the residents, it is welcoming news to have a new police station to help combat crime in the area after 35 years of waiting.
They also complained bitterly about the personnel having to operate from a very dilapidated building, which affected smooth and effective operations.
The new station would provide security for 12 communities including Kpoglo and Alagatsi and several other communities.
The MCE for Ketu South Elliot Edem Agbenorwu promised the government’s commitment at making sure that the people in these areas are provided with the needed security they deserve.
The MCE said the Assembly understood the importance of security for the people, hence the decision to get a comfortable place for the personnel to improve security in the area.
“The police can be proactive when the citizens are able to give them the appropriate information,” Mr Agbenorwu said.
The Keta Divisional Commander CAP, Alex Amenyo, commended the MCE for the nice edifice given to the police service.
He said the new station will provide the police the needed peace of mind and conducive environment.
According to CAP Amenyo, the frequent and effective patrols by the police has reduced crime last year.
We will take adequate care of the facility and also work diligently to protect the municipality,” he assured.
