Forty two suspected armed robbers have been arrested in a swoop in Bantama a suburb of Kumasi.
The suspects were picked up on Tuesday by joint military and police personnel.
The swoop comes on the back of several gun attacks in the Municipality which have claimed about six lives.
Luv FM’s Erastus Donkor said machetes, chain saw, marijuana were retrieved from the suspects.
Ashanti Region Police Public Relations Officer ASP Mohammed Tanko told Joy News the suspects will later be screened tomorrow.
He said the swoop forms part of the activities to rid the region of armed robbers and to ensure Law and order.
ASP Tanko was grateful for public support and appealed for continued collaboration between the public and the police in the arrest of armed robbery activities in the country.
