The Domestic Violence and Victims Support Unit (DOVVSU) of the Police Service will Thursday screen persons picked up over the forced marriage of a 13-year-old girl in Ablekuma. The screening will help officers determine the possibility of other committed crimes by the suspects. The police yesterday picked up the 25-year-old husband, his newly wedded 13-year-old wife, the runaway sister and parents of the girls for questioning. However, Joy News has learnt the 13-year-old girl is being provided protection and support by DOVVSU.The 13-year-old school girl was forced to marry the 25-year-old man originally scheduled to marry her 18-year-old elder sister. The older girl had refused to marry the man and ran away on the day of the marriage, but came back days later to say she still wanted the man.
