Hearts of Oak face Asante Kotoko in the biggest encounter of matchday 6. As the two Ghana Premier League giants renew their fabled rivalry, Joy Sports takes on the task of choosing a combined XI from both squads based on performances this season.
Goalkeeper: Felix Annan (Asante Kotoko)
Despite missing the win against Ebusua Dwarfs, Annan has been a key figure at Kotoko this season. He has been very involved in the build-up play and has also made some crucial saves as well.
Right back: Fatawu Mohammed (Hearts of Oak)
The leader of the Phobians has led from the back this season, fighting for every ball in defence and winning most of his defensive duels.
Center back: Robert Addo Sowah (Hearts of Oak)
Sowah has been reliable in defence this season and his performances in the past few games have been very impressive.
Center back: Agyemang Badu (Asante Kotoko)
Badu has been a pillar at the back for the Porcupine Warriors featuring in all the games so far.
Left back: Raddy Ovouka – (Hearts of Oak)
The marauding full back has been a revelation so far this season. His best game was away at Sogakope as Hearts of Oak were held to 0-0 draw.
Defensive midfielder: Justice Blay (Asante Kotoko)
Blay has made the midfield position his own in his debut season at Kotoko. He scored the club’s first goal of the season and has looked good whenever he’s on the ball.
Central midfielder: Frederick Ansah Botchway (Hearts of Oak)
Quickly becoming a fan favourite, Ansah has caught the eye in the middle of the park. His incredible work rate and dazzle on the ball has seen him start the last three games.
Central midfielder: Emmanuel Nettey (Hearts of Oak)
The most in-form Hearts of Oak player heading into the super clash. Nettey is full of confidence especially after a masterful performance at the Carl Reindorf Park that saw him adjudged as the man of the man.
Right winger: Augustine Okrah (Asante Kotoko)
Okrah started the season strongly tormenting defences with his tricky left foot. So far, he has just one goal this season but has created quite a number of opportunities from wide.
Striker: Kofi Kordzi (Hearts of Oak)
An absolute headache for defenders this season, Kordzi has been very direct this season scoring two goals so far.
Left winger: Emmanuel Gyamfi (Asante Kotoko)
Gyamfi has used his pace to good effect usually engineering most of Kotoko’s attacks. His best game so far was in Accra against Legon Cities when he bagged two well worked goals.
Hearts of Oak vs Asante Kotoko combined XI (4-3-3):
Felix Annan, Fatawu Mohammed, Agyemang Badu, Robert Sowah, Raddy Ovouka, Justice Blay, Emmanuel Nettey, Frederick Ansah Botchway, Augustine Okrah, Kofi Kordzi, Emmanuel Gyamfi
