Lele Group of companies on Monday, February 24, officially commissioned its new office complex located on the main Aflao road in Tema in the Greater Accra Region.
The five-storey multipurpose building also serves as the company’s warehouse for its range of products which include electrical and electronic appliances.
It also has plants that will in the coming months, be used for the processing of local rice and other agriculture produce.
Speaking at a ceremony to unveil the logo for the company’s 20th-anniversary celebrations, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the company, Jacob Gbati, announced that the Lele Tasty Foods, a subsidiary of the Group, would soon venture into rice farming.
This Mr Gbati indicated, will lead to a significant reduction in the importation of rice and boost the local economy.
So far the company which has a staff strength of about 6,000 nationwide, has acquired 40,000 acres of land in the Greater Accra Region which it intends to use for farming, he revealed.
He said 60,000 more acres would be needed for the company to fully roll out its Agric policy.
He explained, however, that the decision has nothing to do with the recently heightened campaign to get Ghanaians to consume locally grown rice.
“We started about five years ago and we tried to farm on a big scale around Afienya [but] we had issues of delay just because of the land. The quantum of land we wanted was over a hundred acres and the process of land acquisition delayed us.”

According to him, the focus of the company is not only for local consumption but also for export to other parts of the sub-region.
Lele’s 20th-anniversary celebrations
The company has also announced that its 20th-anniversary celebration has been split into two; the first one happening in the Ashanti Region on June 30, 2020, for its northern sector clients while that for the southern sector would take place in Accra on July 16, 2020.
Prior to these, a number of Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) activities in the month of April, including clean up exercises in major market centres across all 16 regional capitals, blood donation and health walk, would be organised.
The anniversary logo would also be embossed on all of the company’s products throughout the year.
