The head pastor of the Christian Action Faith Ministry, Archbishop Nicholas Duncan-Williams says he is a believer of marriage and its sanctity, hence his remarrying.
In his first public comment on his controversial new marriage to US-based international consultant, Rosa Whitaker, Duncan-Williams told his congregation on Saturday where he officially introduced his Rosa, that his remarriage is to make a clear statement of his commitment to marriage and that in spite of what has happened to him, he would continue to defend marriage.
“I want to state very clearly, categorically clear, that I am a believer of marriage, and I believe in the sanctity of marriage and it’s one of the reasons why I have remarried, to make a clear statement that I believe in the sanctity of marriage and I am committed to the sanctity of marriage and I will continue to fight for marriage as I have always fought for. Irrespective of what has happened to me in my past, does not change my commitment to marriage and I want to put all marriage couples and wives here, to put your fears to rest that I am committed to marriage and I will continue to fight for you as I have fought for you in the past despite what has happened to me,” he said.
Duncan-Williams and Rosa Whitaker got married at a private ceremony in Maryland, USA, last week, however the event has since generated varied public opinions on the propriety or otherwise of divorce, remarriage and Christianity.
A section of members of his church also expressed concern about the development.
His earlier marriage to Francesca Duncan-Williams fell on the rocks in 2005.
