Boakye Dacosta, 22-year-old waiter in a hotel, was on Wednesday sentenced to three years imprisonment in hard labour by a circuit court at Cape Coast for stealing a mobile phone and a digital camera.
Dacosta, who pleaded guilty, was convicted on his own plea.
Prosecuting, Chief Inspector Hope Azasoo told the court that last week one Professor Jerome Djangmah lodged at the hotel and realized the next day that his digital camera was missing from his room and made a complainant to the hotel management.
He said four days later another customer, Ansah Sem also lodged at the hotel and also detected the loss of his Nokia mobile phone.
Chief Inspector Azasoo said the management searched Dacosta and found the mobile phone hidden in his sock and was later taken to his house where the digital camera was found.
