An appeal has been made to chiefs to take interest in the National Youth Employment Programme (NYEP) and monitor the activities of those who have been employed under the programme.
Yaw Ahenkora Afrifa, the Ejisu-Juaben District Chief Executive, said chiefs, who are concerned about the employment of their youth, could do that by visiting the work places of the youth and giving them encouragement as well as releasing land for those interested in agriculture.
Mr Afrifa made the call when he presented a cheque for 142 million cedis to 19 co-operative youth groups who had decided to take part in the youth in agriculture module in the district during the 50th Independence Day celebrations at Ejisu.
About 2,000 students selected from 46 educational institutions in the district took part in the parade.
