The Kwahu South District Chief Executive, Nana Kofi Onwona Asante, has appealed to members of the public not to influence the police with money when invited to assist in investigations.
He said the practice undermines the effective enforcement of the law and remains a contributing factor to moral decadence in society.
Nana Kofi Onwona Asante also urged police personnel to protect the identity of informants to enable them get the co-operation of the public.
He said it was important the police demonstrated their ability to protect the identity of their informants if they are to win the confidence of the people in their fight against crime.
Nana Asante said this at a send-off party for Assistant Superintendent of Police William Daah, the Nkawkaw Divisional Police Crime Officer, who is on transfer to Accra.
Mr Daah commended the people and his fellow police personnel in the area for their co-operation and support during his three-year stay as the Divisional Crime Officer and urged them to accord the same assistance to his successor.
