The newly installed Ga Mantse, Tackie Tawiah III, will meet all chiefs in the Ga Traditional area during the week to plan a comprehensive programme for the traditional area, a spokesman for him, Nii Boye Abbey has said.Mantse Tackie Tawiah, known in private life as Dr Jo Blankson assumed office at the Ga Mantse’s Palace at Kaneshie as the Ga Manste and president of the Ga Traditional Council on Monday.The brief ceremony was witnessed by an array of chiefs of the Ga state including the Sempe Manste, Nii Adotey Obour II, Ngleshie Alata Mantse, Nii Kojo Ababio, Tema Mantse, Nii Kpobi Tettey Tsuru and the Nungua Manste, Nii Odaifio Wulentsi III.The installation of the Dr Blankson under the stool name, King Tackie Tawiah II on June 11, 2006 was challenged by some members of the royal family.He was induced into the Ga Traditional Council on February 26, 2007 after he had sworn an oath to the Ga state and also at Amugi Naa.Mr Abbey said Nii Tackie Tawiah has already started discussions with the appropriate authorities for the youth of the Ga traditional area to benefit from the National Youth Employment Programme as a means of reducing unemployment in the area.Mr Abbey said Nii Tackie Tawiah intends to endure unity and development in the Ga traditional area and expressed the hope that all factions in the chieftaincy crisis will allow peace to prevail for development in the Ga state.Nii Tackie Tawiah III succeeds Nii Amugi II, who died in July 2005 and was buried in January 26, 2007.Source: The Ghanaian Times
