The Reverend Kingsley Korankyi, Head Pastor of The Messengers of Christ Church in Accra has advised prison inmates not to feel down hearted since "God has a place and plans for everyone".
Speaking at a service for inmates of the Nsawam Prisons, he quoted the scriptures about how Joseph was sent to prison but later became the "Prime Minister" of Egypt.
He also told them about the stories of former President Nelson Mandela of South Africa and Dr. Kwame Nkrumah of Ghana, who came out of prison to become Heads of government in their countries.
Rev. Korankyi who was speaking at the programme dubbed "Gospel Trail in Prisons" also urged the inmates to take useful lessons from their life to spur them on to render good service to the society to inspire others with similar problems.
They should take advantage of the opportunities available to them in prison to create a new image for themselves to regain the confidence the people.
Eric Fianu Amedume, General Secretary of the International Prison Watch, a Non-Governmental Organisation (NGO), which organised the programme later presented cartons of soaps, bread and other food items to the inmates.
He said the donation would not be a nine-day wonder and thanked organisations and individuals supporting the programme.
Assistant Chief Officer (ACO) Justice Kulevomeh, who received the items thanked the NGO and the Church for their "show of love, care and support" for the inmates and appealed to the public to emulate them.
Voices of Revival, Singers of Almighty Band, made up of inmates as well as the Messengers of Christ Gospel Band treated the gathering to gospel music.
