The Anglican Health Services under the Anglican Diocesan Development and Relief Organisation (ADDRO), has acquired ten vehicles for its malaria programme.The vehicles, meant for the Upper East Region, Upper West Region, Northern, Ashanti, Western and Eastern Regions cost 424,614 Ghana Cedis and are supposed to facilitate the Malaria Prevention Programme of the Church.The Very Reverend Dr. Jacob Ayeebo, Executive Director of ADDRO, who handed over the keys of the vehicles to the Health Directors of the various regions, asked the beneficiaries to ensure regular maintenance of the vehicles.The Malaria Programme, which started in 2006, focused mainly on preventing the disease through educating communities on environmental cleanliness and the use of insecticide impregnated bed nets.Under the programme that was in its five year second phase, Insecticide impregnated bet nets were being distributed to pregnant women and terminally sick people.Rev. Dr. Ayeebo thanked the Episcopal Relief and Development Agency, based in the USA for providing funds for the purchase of the vehicles.Mr. Benson Azure Nsoh, Upper East Regional Health Coordinator, promised that the vehicles would be maintained to make them last long.Source: GNA
