Ace Journalist and Editor-in-Chief of the New Crusading Guide, Abdul Malik Kweku Baaku Jnr., has questioned the Ghana Police Service over the seeming neglect of the former Director of operations, Mr. Kofi Boakye.
ACP Kofi Boakye was interdicted by the Police Service in 2006 following his alleged complicity in the M.V. Benjamin cocaine scandal that rocked the country.
Boakye was found culpable by the Georgina Wood Committee set up to investigate the missing cocaine and recommended his prosecution, but the police administration interdicted him, pending further investigations into the case.
Almost three years down the line, the fate of Kofi Boakye has been kept in a balance, a phenomenon Kweku Baako finds worrying.
His concerns have become even more relevant in the face of a massive shake-up of the Police Service announced by the new IGP, Paul Tawiah Quaye.
On Metro TV’s Good Morning Ghana, Mr. Baako called on the Police Council, chaired by the Vice President, John Mahama, to take a decision on the former Director of Operations.
He said the huge potential embedded in the former police chief should not be allowed to go waste.
Host of the programme, Randy Abbey in agreement with Kwaku Baaku did not understand why ACP Kofi Boakye should still be interdicted, whilst he still enjoys his salaries and other entitlements.
He called for immediate decision to be taken.
Whilst on interdiction, Kofi Boakye has added the law profession to his academic and professional credentials, having been voted the best law student in the year 2008.
