The police in the Upper East Region have arrested a man they suspect to be linked to the murder of official of CHRAJ in Bawku.
Issahaku Mubarak was arrested for allegedly playing a role in the murder of Felix Asibi who worked with the Commission on Human Rights and Administrative Justice (CHRAJ).
The incident took place during the resurgence of violence in Bawku last week.
The victim was killed in his house in what police believe was an armed robbery attack.
Confirming the arrest to Joy News, the regional commander, DCOP Hamidu Mahama told Joy News the 28-year-old suspect was picked up upon a tip-off.
He said the suspect had about 10 cell phones.
In the course of investigations, DCOP Mahama explained, relatives of the deceased identified one of the phones as belonging to the deceased.
He said when the phone scrolled, the photographs of the deceased, he and girlfriend and that of his mother.
According to DCOP Mahama, further searches on the suspect revealed he was carrying ammunition and an amount of 139 Naira and mobile phone chargers.
Issahaku Mubarak is being questioned on how he came by the items found on him.
Meanwhile calm has returned to Bawku due to intensification of police patrols, said police commander.
He said the reduction of the curfew hours to 14 was also useful.
