Organisers of 3Music Awards on Sunday honoured some women who have helped to grow the entertainment industry over the years at a women’s brunch.
The event dubbed 3Music Women's Brunch, which was held at the Adae Kese Hall of the La Palm Royal Beach Hotel was to celebrate these women and their achievements on March 8, marked worldwide as International Women’s Day.
The women honoured were CEO of Charterhouse, organisers of Vodafone Ghana Music Awards, Theresa Ayoade; actress Grace Omaboe (Maame Dokono); Akosua Adjepong, Dzifa Gomashie, Daughters of Glorious Jesus, Tagoe Sisters, Heather Badger, Asabea Cropper, and Tiwaa of the gospel group Yaw Sarpong and Asomafo.

3Music also honoured the late playwright, dramatist and educationist Efua Sutherland.

Aside from the achievements of these women in the entertainment space, the event also highlighted some of the challenges they faced in their journey that are still hindering the growth of other young women including sexual exploitation.

It also brought to the fore some opportunities that exist for young women who are venturing into the space.

There were two-panel sessions led by Naa Ashorkor and Nhyira Addo of both of Joy FM, which sought to shore up interest and consolidate the sustained efforts made over the years in the push for female empowerment within the creative sector and beyond.

Under the leadership of Whitney Boakye-Mensah, and with support from the women on the 3Music Awards board, the 3Music Women's Brunch is a social impact initiative designed to make a case for female empowerment and inclusion in the arts and entertainment industry.

The event was held as part of the scheme's Power of 3 campaign for this year, which focuses on three stands: The Fans, The Music and Impact.
