Playwright and CEO of Globe Productions, Latif Abubakar, is set to bring one of his plays to the general public virtually, amid ban on public gatherings.
The play ‘Thank God For Idiots’ will be streamed on the YouTube channel of his production company on Thursday, April 30.
According to Mr Abubakar, the gesture is part of activities marking his birthday which he celebrated on Monday, April 20.
It is also to help entertain the public in times like these where people are not allowed to march into theatres.
“We are of the hope that this would impart and touch more lives as we stay home and observe the ban on social gathering issued by the government,” the playwright said.
“Like Christmas in April which brought loads of smiles to our patrons, we hope this play would impart them even better,” he added.
Mr Abubakar further indicated that the growing interest of patrons and the positive impact of their plays on the society have necessitated and motivated this initiative.
Giveaways
Mr. Abubakar mentioned that there would also be some giveaways, which include airtime, to patrons and followers of his social media handles.
He explained that scratch card numbers for airtime of the various networks will be published on his Instagram page, @LatifGlobe at periodic intervals for the fastest fingers.
He also used the occasion to educate the public on the importance of observing social distancing and washing their hands with soap under running water.
Plays
Some of the plays written and produced by Latif Abubakar include; 'Thank God For Idiots', ‘I Can’t Think Far’, which focused on peaceful election, ‘Saints and Sinners’, which highlighted the menace of galamsey, while ‘Men Don Die’, and ‘Judas and Delilah’ centred on road safety and first aid tips respectively.
