President Nana Akuffo-Addo has revealed that a significant number of locally manufactured Personal Protective Equipment (PPEs) have been distributed to various health centres across the country.
Addressing the nation on measures taken against the spread of coronavirus, the President indicated that 905,031 nose masks, 31,630 medical scrubs, 31,472 gowns, 46,870 headcovers, and 83,500 N-95 face masks have been dispersed.
He added that the domestic manufacturing companies are steadily producing more to ensure that the country does not run out of the products.
“Government has enabled domestic production and supply of protective equipment to our health workers to increase significantly,” he said.

Following several complaints by health workers in the country over an inadequate supply of PPEs to the various hospitals government resorted to the local production of protective gears to solve the problem.
President AkufoAddo also acknowledged the humanitarian gesture of the United States of America which gifted critical medical supplies to the country on Saturday, April 25.
“[This is] the latest assistance we have received from a friendly foreign nation,” he said.

Stressing on the need for the general public to adhere to the safety protocols, the President said efforts of health works would be in vain if citizens do not support them in the patriotic way.
“So, let us, on our part, continue to protect further our health workers by practicing social distancing, washing our hands with soap under running water, refraining from shaking hands, and, yes, wearing our masks whenever we leave our homes.”
