Special Aide and spokesperson to President-elect John Mahama's 2024 campaign, has criticized President Akufo-Addo for what she described as the poor management of the country.
According to Joyce Bawah Mogtari, Ghanaians had indicated that it is the “insensitivity” of the Akufo-Addo/Bawumia government that actually led to the protests against the administration.
Speaking on JoyNews’ Newsfile on Saturday, January 4, she stated that she was disappointed after listening to President Akufo-Addo deliver his final State of the Nation Address.
According to her, she did not “hear a shred of regret, a modicum of sadness, and a touch of respect for those who went out there to elect him into office in 2016. The very same people who endorsed his presidency did not get what they were expecting yesterday [Friday, January, 3].”
She argued that a “touch of regret” from President Akufo-Addo during his address on Friday could have gone a long way in preserving the image of a “man who said very proudly that his biggest moment must have been to serve Ghanaians as president.”
She asserted that the president, having been in the political space for a long period, was expected to show a “touch of humility at last in the final embers” of his tenure.
Joyce Bawah Mogtari further stated that it is a mark of leadership for President Akufo-Addo to admit to his own failures.
“Short of that, anything else yesterday [Friday, January 3] for me was a complete and utter disappointment,” she stressed.
