The North Dayi District Assembly in the Volta Region has begun the distribution of some 10,000 locally manufactured nose masks to residents.
This is in a bid to curb the spread of the Covid-19 pandemic in the district.
Beneficiaries of the exercise include market women, lorry drivers and Okada boys among others.

The exercise according to the DCE, Kudjoh Attah is to ensure that residents do not give excuses as far as the wearing of nose masks to public places is concerned.

The DCE told journalists in the Anfoega market on Wednesday that there has been significant compliance with the protocols by the various groups.
“The President has given a directive and we want to also comply by ensuring that our people who sell and buy in the market use face masks,”he said.
Residents who were impressed with the DCEs initiative asked that more education be provided especially in the deprived communities in the district to help improve adherence to social distancing directives.
The masks shared were sourced from the community, as the materials used were bought from the people and local artisans were contracted to sew them.
Volta Region has so far recorded 34 positive cases with some recoveries.
