Junior Shapers Africa (JSA), the premier organisation leading the "Raising Boys Right" Advocacy in Africa since 2015 is glad to endorse the commemoration of this year’s World Day of the Boy Child, marked on 16th May 2020.
World Boy Day of the Child celebration began on January 22, 2018.
Dr Jerome Teelucksingh from Trinidad and Tobago, sent a letter to government leaders and NGOs calling for the inaugural observance of the International Day of the Boy Child more commonly known as International Boys’ Day on May 16, 2018.
Since then the day has been celebrated worldwide every year with a special event in various countries.
To mark the day this year, a virtual event was held dubbed; “Saving our Boys” on video conferencing app Zoom.
Boy child activists across different parts of the world met to discuss what they have been doing to save and empower boys in their various countries.
Many ideas were shared and Junior Shapers Africa is glad to have participated in this event.
Ethel Marfo the Founding Director and Advocacy Lead of JSA said the principles of WDBC align with that of JSA and she is inspired by the global cause to fight for the boy child.
She looks forward to collaborating with many of these boy child activists in Africa and around the world and other stakeholders to champion the advocacy of raising boys’ right globally for a better world.
The 10 core principles of World Day of the Boy Child; educating and mentoring, honoring boys who are talented and achievers, rescuing boys from poverty, eradicating illiteracy and underachievement, addressing discrimination against boys, promoting positive minds and healthy boys, offering freedom and safety, championing equality and equity, and empowering boys align with the vision of Junior Shapers Africa to mentor and groom responsible future men to move our continent forward.
As the premier male focused organisation in Africa, JSA endorses the commemoration of World Day of the Boy Child.
Since 2015, JSA has been championing male child personal development through the provision of grooming, mentorship and counselling opportunities for young males in Africa to become confident, responsible and supportive men by exposing them to values, life skills and nurturing careers.
Boys are inspired to make a difference in the lives of rural girls, children and youth in fulfilment of UN SDGs 4, 5, 8 & 10.
For so long we have only been "schooling boys" and not "raising them right" leading to mental frustration among the younger generation of men.
It is high time we acknowledge that boys have issues too and pay attention to these issues to address them.
Raising boys right will inspire boys to become responsible men and fathers worth emulating, discover their purpose and enable them improve their general wellbeing to achieve their full potential for the advancement of our society.
Junior Shapers Africa is the premier male youth personal development organisation in all of Africa focused on grooming and mentoring male youth to become the responsible future men we desire to have in our continent.
We are a non-profit organization raising Junior Behaviour Change Ambassadors since December 2015 to move our continent forward through the teaching of Values, Life Skills, Agribusiness & SDGs recognized by the Ministry of Gender, Children & Social Protection.
JSA is a multiple award-winning organisation acknowledged by the (Chartered Institute of Marketing Ghana) CIMG Best Social Entrepreneurship and Activism award in 2017 as well as the Neogenics EduCom award for Value Added Education in 2018
