The New Patriotic Party (NPP) has revealed its plans for the Creative Arts industry.
In a presentation on Saturday during the manifesto launch of the party at Cape Coast in the Central Region, the party outlined some projects set aside to improve the industry.
The presentation read by the director of the Ghana Folklore Board, Nana Adjoa Adobea Asante; it was revealed the NPP’s interest in the growth and stated its strategies to help put it up.
According the presentation, the party was found wallowing in neglect under the tenure of the previous political party, the National Democratic Congress.’
Also, the government, in its quest to improve creative arts in a long run, has planned to set up the Creative Arts Senior High School.
The presentation made mention of the full implementations of the Copyright court and how it intends to put in check, copyright infringement cases as far as the Creative Industry in concerned and also for the industry to have an independent court.
This according the council will put in check, issues of song theft and all forms of wrongful taking of industry players’ intellectual property.
According to the presentation, the government had earlier promised the sector its efforts to improve the Film industry in the country, hence the setting up of the Ghana Film Industry in December last year to help improve the film industry.
According to the presentation, the government in its quest to revive theatre in the country started the construction of theatres in the country and one built in Koforidua will be just a beginning of government.
The government in the presentation struck rays of hope in the hearts of musicians, mainly the upcoming ones as the government plans to put several music studios across the country and promised to make these studios accessible to them.
