Kumasi Sec Tech has won the third one-eighth contest of the National Science and Maths Quiz (NSMQ) to secure a place in the quarter-final stage on Monday at University of Ghana.
The afternoon contest featured Kumasi Sec Tech, Sogakope SHS and Takoradi SHS who were hopeful of a win by the end of the contest.
The winning school, Kumasi Sec Tech was represented by Jedges Gyasi and Anthony Donkor.
Sogakope and Takoradi SHS that were eliminated at the end of the contest were represented by Christopher Dzidolawo, Godbless Azilagbetor and Robert Tengey and Bernard Blankson respectively.

In the first round of the contest, Kumasi Sec Tech made 15 points on the score table with Sogakope following close-by with 13 points. Takoradi SHS was found at the bottom of the score table with 6 points.
Kumasi Sec Tech was unable to make a point in the second round and was left with 15 points. Sogakope SHS and Takoradi SHS fell and ended up with 4 points and 3 points in this round.

Sogakope SHS rose to the challenge and secured 17 points with Kumasi Sec Tech still leading the score table with 22 points in the third round. Takoradi SHS followed the score table with 8 points.
In the fourth round of the contest, Kumasi Sec Tech and Sogakope increased their points by 15 and 12 points respectively but Takoradi SHS gained a point in this round.
Kumasi Sec Tech led the fourth round with 37 points with Sogakope SHS following with 25 points. Takoradi SHS made 9 points in the fourth round.
At the end of the contest, Kumasi Sec Tech won with 40 points on the score table. Sogakope SHS was unable to make a point in the fifth round and secured 25 points. Takoradi SHS found itself at the bottom of the score table with 12 points.
