The Flagbearer of the National Democratic Congress, John Dramani Mahama has reiterated his stance on instituting an agro-processing factory to encourage diversity in farming, especially in the Western North Region.
This, he says, is purposely to process raw produce into a more refined state to end post-harvest losses which are as a result of a lack of appropriate processing technologies.
“When given the mandate to govern, we shall introduce agro-processing factories to aid farmers process and give value to their commodities, and the Western North Region is highly regarded when the topic of farming is raised," he said.
Addressing the Chiefs and people of Anhwiaso in the Western North Region, he said the lack of agro-processing factories prevents farmers from adding value to their raw products and are therefore unable to make the most of their efforts.
“After farming, the farmers do not have access to a place where they can modify their products into a variety of ways and forms to add value to them while saving cost and making meaning of their hard work,” he said.
