Chief and people of Yara, a community in Kintampo have threatened to boycott this year's election over deplorable roads in the community.
The Chief of the farming community has further vowed to chase out EC officials who will be sent to the community on December 7, to ensure the conduct of the Presidential and Parliamentary elections.
"If you take a look at our roads, it seems we are not part of this country. Meanwhile, we vote each election year," the Chief said.
The comments were made during the community's Yam festival where the chief lamented poor roads in the community.
He stated that he and his people are tired of empty promises and as a result, will send EC officials who will be assigned to the community away.
"The politicians know how to get here [to Yara] when they need our votes. When they get here, they make a lot of promises they don't fulfill.
"There's no project here in Yara that we can pinpoint and say this government or that government constructed. Are we not part of the country?" he said.
He, however, added that he and his residents will only rescind their decision when the roads are completed.
Until then, the chief says, "we will destroy ballot boxes and any material that will be sent here in the name of voting.
"We have been deceived for long," he added.
