MP-elect for North Tongu constituency, Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa is insistent that the National Democratic Congress (NDC) won both Techiman South and Sene West constituencies in the Parliamentary election.
Mr Okudzeto Ablakwa who was adorned in black attire in Parliament, Monday, stated that the NDC should be accorded the 138 parliamentary seats due them and given it's deserved position as the majority in the 8th Parliament as Ghana's constitution stipulates.
According to him, the NDC won 138 out of the total 275 constituencies and not 136 constituencies as declared by the Electoral Commission.
“Respect the people’s verdict and mandate. Don’t usurp the will of the people. We have the majority. We have 138. Techiman South and Sene West belong to the NDC. We have won convincingly.”
“If they want us to cooperate at inauguration, midnight from January 6, 2021, allow us choose our Speaker. Let the Majority be accorded what it is due so far as the constitution is concerned,” he added.
The Minority in Parliament today wore black attires in protest of the outcome of the 2020 general elections.

Speaking to the media, Mr Okudzeto Ablakwa was emphatic that the results in the just-ended elections did not reflect the true will of the people.
He described the Electoral Commission as having lost its credibility as the Commission keeps altering figures and percentages of the election results.
He also accused both the incumbent government and the EC of having colluded to rig the elections, thereby, “killing democracy.”
“We saw what happened in Techiman South. A seat we [NDC] won, the Electoral Commission has declared the seat in favour of the NPP. How can you say that?” he quizzed.
"Ghanaians voted for change in the Presidential and Parliamentary elections and that must be respected."
Mr Okudzeto Ablakwa disclosed that legal practitioners in the NDC are putting together forensic evidence to present an election petition to the Supreme Court.
Officials in the NDC will join all constituents to demonstrate across the country in the fight for justice, he noted.
