The Bono Regional Police Command has debunked rumors that a man alleged to have been poisoned to death after he was seen in a viral video is not a Policeman.
According to them, the viral has no relation with officers of the Police Service.
In the footage, the alleged policeman was seen holding a cup and dancing with his friends in what is alleged to be a promotion party. Another person was seen dancing with the group and seemingly dropped an object into the drink of the holder of the cup.
In a statement signed by the Deputy Regional Commander, ACP Baba Saanid Adamu, for the Bono Regional Police commander, said, upon interception and careful observation of the video, with an attached message suggesting the holder of the cup is a Policeman from Sunyani, they are certain there is no policeman involved.
“Even though the Command has lost an inspector by name Fred Armah of the Regional Criminal Investigations Department in Sunyani, the Health Authorities at the Regional Hospital has confirmed his death is Covid-19 related”, the statement said.
The Command, however said they disassociate themself from the viral video and further “advised the public to stop circulating this false information”, adding, “there is no proof” that the young man who is alleged to have died after being poisoned while dancing and drinking with his friends in the video is a policeman”.
