Located at the heart of the Wa municipality, bounded to the left by Limanyiri Vuori and to the right by Yigiihi Yengpong is the beautiful and iconic Wa Naa's Palace.
It was constructed using sundried mud bricks. Unlike other ancient buildings.
It has a Y-shaped wooden columns to support the flat roofs of a bush-pole framework covered with mud.
Its architectural style is a combination of forms and influences from the Moorish architecture and Sahel-Sudan.
As part of the Ghana month series, I took a took a tour of the palace regarded as one of the finest and last remains of ancient architectural buildings which needs to be preserved.

Naa Salihu Jongara hails from the Yigiila gate and currently occupies the Ducie skin. He told me how the idea of the building of the palace was mooted.
Before the construction of the palace, there was no central or permanent palace for the Wa Naa. Each of them were staying at their respective palaces constructed for their gates.
Inside the Wanaa;'s palace is his sitting room which serves as his court. This where all cases that comes before the Wanaa are settled.
Here, the Wa Naa sits on either the lions or the antelopes skin. Any other person coming in here including the Imams who serves as his spatula god fathers either has to sit on a cow or sheep's skin.
Despite its huge tourism potential and the thousands that trouped there to have a glimpse of the ancient edifice, the people benefits little or nothing from it.
Upper West regional chairman of Tour Guides Association, Aziz Pelpuo lamented about the situation and made spume recommendation for the status quo to change.
