The Ghana Revenue Authority Debt Management and Enforcement Unit has resumed its debt distress action to recoup accumulated petroleum taxes from some Oil Marketing Companies.
The operations begun this morning at the premises of Grid Petroleum which is owing in excess of GH¢1.5 million.
The team locked up the premises of the company after several attempts for it to honour part payments wasn't successful.
Leader of the team, Chief Revenue Officer, Nathaniel Nii Okai Tetteh, addressing Journalists who joined the operations noted that the properties of the company can be confiscated if they fail to honour the debt.

"Where we are is a property of Grid Petroleum, but we have another team at the head office and we have a warrant from the Commissioner General to take over the premises and all other properties belonging to grid petroleum”.
“Ours is to ensure that the accumulated debt since 2019 has been paid to the Ghana Revenue Authority, then we can open it for them [Grid Petroleum] to continue their work" he said.
At Sowutuom in Accra, the Sawiz petroleum filling station escaped the action due to a transfer of ownership letter approved by the National Petroleum Authority to new managers.
The Chief Revenue Officer explained that such approval letters provide leeway for OMCs from such action.

Also, Managing Director of a new OMC, Gulf Petroleum, Namawu Massud said there has been a delay in re-branding due to old stocks in its fuel tanks.
At Sonnidom Petroleum, although the pumps are not operating, the team proceeded to the corporate head office to carry out the action.
