Deputy Minister-Designate for Health, Mahama Asei Seini has given the assurance that the Ministry of Health will probe allegations made in the 'Pay or Die documentary' produced by Corruption Watch in collaboration with the Multimedia Group Limited.
The documentary uncovered the rot in service delivery to pregnant women in Ghana’s public hospitals.
Appearing before the Appointments Committee of Parliament on Monday, Mr Seini condemned the alleged practice by the health officials and called for those found culpable, to be punished.
“I will suggest to my Minister that he should commence an investigation to ensure that the truth is discovered and we will take immediate action from there,” he said.
On Agenda 111 hospitals as promised by President Akufo-Addo, the nominee said a total of 75 contracts have been awarded awaiting sot cutting for commencement of the projects.
“Agenda 111 is a vision of government just to augment the deficit in health infrastructure. So far, 75 of them have been awarded waiting for sod to be cut before they commence.
“There are others and if my nomination is approved, I will discuss with my Minister to expedite processes for them to commence,” he stated.
