Principal Land Administration Officer at the Lands Commission, Timothy Anyidoho, has cautioned staff of the Commission against falsifying the content of individual and corporate files they work on.
According to him, anyone found culpable of conniving and falsifying the content of files at the Commission risks being jailed between 5 to 15 years.
Mr Anyidoho was addressing concerns of some fervent listeners of Joy FM's Super Morning Show, who called into the programme Thursday. The callers, alleged that falsification of content of files by some staff at the Commission, has been the norm over the years.
He assured the callers that the Land Act, 2020 (Act 1036) has provided for sanctions that would be meted out to perpetrators of such unlawful acts, "the new law makes provision for such corrupt practices," Mr Anyidoho stressed.
The Principal Lands Administration Officer added that, "this new provision under offences, is one of the most stringent for Public Servants and it is a provision that doesn’t have any room for negligence."
"We want to say that this law has put even a greater burden on Public Servants, and I’m not sure the administration of Lands Commission would connive in anyway," he said.
With regard to instances where files disappear from the coffers of the Commission, Mr Anyidoho said Act 1036 provides penalties for perpetrators of such an offence.
