The Zoomlion Foundation, has launched a project dubbed Zoomkids Green Schools Project.
The project objective is to assist various schools across Ghana to plant some 1000 trees.
The first to plant a tree under the project was Mrs. Florence Larbi, Chief Operating Officer of Environment and Sanitation Cluster of the Jospong Group.

She encouraged the pupils to take the exercise serious.
Mrs. Larbi mentioned that each pupil and teacher is expected to plant a tree and track its growth until it is fully grown into a tree.
“Awards will be given to pupils and teachers whose plants grow well” she added.
The launch of the Zoomkids Green Schools Project was done at the Tema West Municipal Assembly Cluster of Schools in Klagon.

Officials Jospong Group and Zoomlion graced the occasion.
Coordinator of Learning, Development and Security of the Jospong Group, Brigadier General Michael Akpatsu noted that motivation would be key driving force in ensuring that each student monitor their plants.
“We shall ensure that this exercise becomes a national contest where individuals who grow their trees would be awarded. Trees play a major role in our lives and that is why we must take this exercise seriously” he admonished the pupils.

The Zoomlion Foundation’s Zoomkids Club has members in many schools across the country with the aim to promote good sanitation practices and conservation of the environment.
The National Programme Officer of the Foundation, Thomas N. Korley is optimistic that the target of planting 1000 trees will be exceeded. He noted that plans are in place to ensure that the trees planted grow well.

Officials of the Ghana Education Services in the Tema West Municipality and the Assemblyman of Klagon both pledged their support for the exercise.
