Residents of Sefwi Amoakrom in the Bia West District of the Western North Region were left in shock in the last hours of Thursday by the action of a young man.
Francis Awuni, 22, allegedly beheaded his employer, identified only as Azumah, on his rice farm, after which he put the severed head into a polythene bag.
The Assemblyman of the area, Edward Takyi, confirmed that the sad incident happened at Amoakrom in the Bia West District.
The suspect revealed in an interview that the deceased hired the suspect from Northern Ghana as a labourer to work on his farm.
According to him, the suspect, after cutting off his boss' head, explained that Azumah had attempted to use him for a money-making ritual. Killing Azumah is, therefore, in revenge for what the deceased did to him.
The suspect added that his boss on three occasions tried to slash him with the cutlass but was unsuccessful. So he decided to revenge but ended up killing him because the boss did not survive the cutlass wounds he inflicted on him.
“That was what he told someone that his landlord had cut him with a cutlass, so the person brought him to the clinic for treatment. But after some interrogations, he confessed what he had done."
“So I informed the police, and when we got to the scene, we saw the man’s body, but his head was off; he had hidden it,” the Assemblyman told Adom News.
However, the Bia West District Police Command has arrested the culprit and put the suspect behind bars, and the body has been deposited at the Bia West Government hospital for an autopsy.
