Convenor of the #FixTheCountry campaign, Oliver Barker-Vormawor has called for an end to corruption in the country.
He made the call during the much anticipated #FixTheCountry demonstration which was held Wednesday, August 4, 2021.
During the protest, Mr Barker-Vormawor issued a clarion call to the youth to come together and fight against the canker, regardless of ethnic background or political affiliations. He noted that economic hardships in the country are endured by all, regardless of political affiliations or ethnicity.
"When I'm hungry, you are hungry too. No one asks what tribe you are if you go hungry. We are all in this together," he said.
The Researcher at the University of Cambridge Faculty of Law, who has been championing the cause against corruption, said previous governments that engaged in the canker were dissolved by military regimes.
This time, however, he said the youth will take up the cause of dissolving the 4th Republic which he described as a "corruption republic."
"We are no longer going to allow tribalism or politics to divide us. The 1st, 2nd, and 3rd Republics were dissolved by soldiers. Now it is the youth who will dissolve the 4th Republic which has been characterised by corruption and 491."
On this note, he said the protest will be taken to all parts of the country; to "Tamale, Ho, Takoradi, etc."
Demonstrators hit the streets in protest against what they described as poor conditions of living for the youth in the country.
The protest began at the 'Obra Spot' near the Kwame Nkrumah Circle at 6 am on Wednesday and headed towards the Black Star Square.
The youth used the platform to voice out their plights and urged the government to address them.
