It has emerged that some staff of the Ghana Revenue Authority (GRA) aid businesses bidding for contracts to circumvent laid down procedures in the acquisition tax clearance certificates.
The JoyNews expose by Kwetey Nartey revealed that with a paltry sum of ¢1,500, officials can forge tax records for newly created companies without any evidence of work.
In reaction to this, Board Chairman of the Internal Audit Agency, Joe Winful, has stated that news about issuance of fake tax clearance certificates at GRA comes as no surprise to him.
According to him, such unlawful acts are recurrent at the Authority.
Tonight on PM Express, host, Evans Mensah interacted with his panelists; Senior Programmes & Research Officer, Mary Awelana Addah and Taxation Lawyer, Dr Kweku Ainuson, to probe the matter and provide suggestions to address the shortcomings at the Authority.
