The Volta Regional Coordinating Council has once again defied all odds to win overall top honours at the just-ended local government awards.
The Council, under the leadership of Dr Achibald Letsa, emerged number one, according to the latest Local Government Service performance report on the 16 regions.
The monitoring and verification exercise was for the year 2020 based on the Local Government Service’s Performance Contract with the 16 Regional Coordinating Councils (RCCs) and the 260 Metropolitan, Municipal and District Assemblies (MMDAs).
Presenting the award, the Chief of Staff, Frema Osei Opare, congratulated authorities in the region for the giant strides despite the numerous challenges they face and encouraged the Regional Minister to break more grounds.
This is coming when the region is preparing to host the Volta fair in November, which is expected to be a one-stop point for business opportunities, display of rich Volta culture, food and vast tourist attractions.
The obviously elated Minister, Dr Achibald Letsa, is hopeful awards like this will inspire indigenes of the Volta region to aspire to greater heights and be individual ambassadors of the region.
Dr Archibald Letsa urged those who are yet to experience the rich culture, warm hospitality, breathtaking tourist attractions and sumptuous dishes of the Volta Region to take advantage of the upcoming two week fair at the Ho sports stadium to “visit Volta and experience Ghana.”
