Hundreds of residents in Salakope in the Volta Region have thronged the premises of a church to be used as a makeshift accommodation for them after tidal waves ravaged their homes, rendering them homeless.
The displaced individuals, however, had to wait outside the church for congregants to end a worship session which was ongoing in the facility.
JoyNews’ Maxwell Agbagba reports that the victims of the tidal wave, while waiting, had to endure the harsh weather.
In an interview, the victims said their lives have come to a standstill following the unfortunate incident.
“We are almost in a desert now, the sea has devastated our lives and spoilt everything,” a resident lamented.
Earlier, the Municipal Chief Executive of the area, Maxwell Koffie Lugudor had explained to JoyNews that the Assembly could not find them alternate accommodation.
He explained that supply of relief items from the National Disaster Management Organisation (NADMO) had delayed.
