A family life consultant, Catherine Onwioduokit, has cautioned unmarried individuals against any desire to affirm their love during the Valentine's Day celebration.
She explained that “any love that makes you drop your underwear is not love; it will end in tears and pains.”
According to her, unmarried people should not overdo things that will end up hurting them in the future, but should be able to draw the lines between fake and genuine love.
On every February 14, lovers go beyond the ordinary to express affection to their significant others through gifts such as flowers, chocolates and more.
Others also choose to seal their love with sexual intercourse, but the relationship counsellor wants the youth to be wary of decisions they make on this fateful day.
“I want to speak to the unmarried generation; I don’t think any unmarried person or even married wants to carry their ecstasies in wrong places.”
“I don’t think you want to get to 50, 60, 70 and 80 look back with regrets at certain choices you made just in the name of love,” she warned.
Meanwhile, she has advised people to be moderate in their celebration and not be influenced by what they see around them.
“Another thing that will cause dangers in this season is social media pressure. You will see somebody go and borrow somebody’s clothes and come and hype it…iPhone 13 ‘my boyfriend bought me this’ and you want to go and do competition with that person?”
“Don’t do competition. Don’t allow anybody to mess you up because of what you see on Instagram, Tiktok or Facebook. Don’t live your life best on those standards. Take your time, life is in seasons,” Rev. Mrs. Onwioduokit added.
