A fervent listener of Joy FM has expressed the view that despite the failures on the part of the government, poor attitudes of citizens have largely contributed to the woes of the country.
"Ghanaians are our own problems. We are irresponsible - we know what is right but we won't do it," Dennis, who called from Adentan, said on Tuesday, March 15, 2022, during Joy FM's Super Morning Show.
His comment was part of discussions on whether Ghana is a better nation now than we were a decade ago, or whether the state is living on past glories?
While most callers indicated that things are not in good shape now compared to previous years, Dennis and another caller, Selorm, contended that things could be better if Ghanaians changed their attitudes.
"We all know that we have failed, otherwise, MPs will not be in Parliament fighting, Policemen would not be involved in Bullion van robberies," Selorm said.
"We want the government to do something but Ghanaians can also be responsible, honest, truthful, etc," he said.
The conversation comes on the back of recent complaints by a cross section of Ghanaians about what they call unbearable economic hardships.
Moreover, the Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG) has initiated plans to adjust its tariffs to increase the cost of electricity in the coming weeks.
According to a Director in the Office of the Managing Director, Noble Dorwume, a request has been sent to the Public Utility Regulatory Commission (PURC) for consideration and approval.
It also comes on the back of spikes in the price of fuel since the beginning of this year.
Meanwhile, prices of petroleum products will from Wednesday, March 16 experience a significant surge as consumers are expected to pay GH¢11 per litre.
