The MP for North Tongu, Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, has revealed that some 20 medical students who evacuated from Ukraine due to the current crisis have been provided with a paid internship opportunity at the Battor Catholic Hospital.
In a tweet on March 28, the MP noted that the package secured through his efforts includes "support in securing accommodation and feeding."
According to Mr Ablakwa, other medical students flown into Ghana who are interested in the package can directly apply to the Medical Superintendent of the Battor Catholic Hospital starting March 29.
He assured me that the hospital will strictly vet and screen all suitable applicants without interference.
For the North Tongu MP, this "win-win initiative would offer our celebrated hospital additional hands to improve health delivery" and "help in the interim to provide practical skills for our compatriots who have been through hell and are now considering their future options."
Because of this, Mr Okudzeto Ablakwa has entreated the various health institutions in the country to take up a similar North Tongu/Battor Catholic Hospital initiative.
