The National Sports Authority (NSA) and the Horticulture Department of Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) have entered into a partnership that will see both NSA and KNUST benefit mutually when it comes to sports.
This agreement will see KNUST providing research contributions to the NSA in the areas of pitch development and improvement and facility maintenance, while the NSA provides the platform for students and researchers of KNUST to contribute to sports development in the country.
Speaking at a ceremony to sign the Memorandum of Understanding, Director General of the NSA, Prof Peter Twumasi, underlined the importance of the initiative to sports development.
“We want to enter into this memorandum of understanding with you which is the first point of our interaction to open up our institution for us to look across and see where we think that, we can relate and expand those opportunities to benefit Ghana and benefit the world.
The NSA boss is optimistic, this collaboration will foster solutions in the areas of pitch development and improvement in Ghana.
On her part, Vice Chancellor of KNUST, Prof Rita Akosua Dickson welcomed the partnership and assured the NSA of her unflinching support.
“One of the things we are very much convinced about as a University is that, we have always been staunch believers of constructive partnerships.
“We are very grateful that you found it expedient, Director General to come and have this conversation with us.
“Be reassured that, we are ready and prepared, well able and capable to provide that needed backbone in terms of collaborating with the National Sports Authority to be able to foster solutions using local resources," she stressed.
