Plastic bags waste management has received a major facelift after 15 years of dedicated service under Mr. Stuart Gold-led administration of Trashy Bags Africa.
Management of Trashy Bags Africa, in June 15, 2022 announced the formal handing over of the company to a newly formed in-country team.
The Trashy Bags Project was started in 2007 by Mr. Stuart Gold, who dedicated 15 years to building the company and product range. Stuart remained with the company since the transformation and rebranding to Trashy Bags Africa in 2021.
At an event held in the company’s production factory in Abelemkpe, Accra, staff gathered to wish Mr. Gold farewell and thank him for his years of service. Mr. Gold, in a speech, highlighted some of the successes and challenges over the years.
The factory team, led by Mr. Elvis Aboluah, presented him with a beautiful piece of artwork created using recycled plastic.
As part of the handover celebration, each member of staff was appreciated for dedicated service, which is a typical way for an employer in Ghana to acknowledge strong performance by the workforce.
The new management of Trashy Bags Africa says it is excited to embark upon the next phase of the company’s journey and growth plans.
Products
The company makes various products, including laptop bags, messenger bags, tote bags, backpacks, purses, wallets, and reusable shopping bags from plastic wastes disposed indiscriminately or sourced from companies.
The company has reprocessed approximately 30 million sachets since its founding. Every month about 200,000 plastic sachets are collected and brought to Trashy Bags Africa by a network of collectors employed by Trashy Bags. Its products are sold locally, sold online, and exported to other countries.
