Some concerned supporters of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) in the Asawase Constituency have accused the Member of Parliament for the area, Muntaka Mubarak of sowing discord in the party.
The new constituency chairman of the NDC is alleged to have been ignored by the legislator in all of his activities, which the group claims are unethical and against party rules.

According to them, the MP should accord the needed recognition to the party's chairman, Faisal Dauda.
The group also criticises some party supporters, including the former constituency chairman, for labeling the new chairman as aligned with the New Patriotic Party (NPP).

Convenor of the group, Umar Haris, at a press conference at Aboabo, said if the Member of Parliament's actions toward some of the executives if not immediately stopped, the fortunes of NDC in the 2024 elections will be adversely affected.

But the Asawase Youth Front has denied every allegation brought against the MP.
The group's spokesperson, Ali Issah, said the legislator is the best candidate to guide the party to victory in the constituency in 2024.

"It is quite unfortunate that some people would want to fault our hard-working MP, over a clear case of an assault thinking that would make him unpopular in advancing their unquenched interests. We want them to understand that no amount of lies against Mr Muntaka, would diminish our love for him," he said.
Mr. Issah added that even if the Member of Parliament decides not to run again, they will compel him to do so because of the level of development the Constituency had undergone thanks to him.

He observed under Muntaka's leadership, the Asawase Constituency is unmatched in the Ashanti Region in terms of developmental projects, including roads, health, entrepreneurial support and education.
